I am reporting this tree again due to ongoing and progressively worsening safety concerns.

The tree is noticeably leaning towards the road, and its roots have caused significant lifting, cracking and unevenness to the surrounding pavement. This has created a clear trip hazard for pedestrians, particularly at night when the raised and damaged sections are much harder to see.

The pavement around the tree has already been repaired on multiple occasions; however, these repairs have not resolved the underlying problem. The continuing growth and movement of the tree’s roots have caused the pavement to lift and deteriorate again, demonstrating that repeated surface repairs are only a temporary solution.

The condition appears to have progressively worsened over time. Of particular concern is the combination of the tree’s noticeable lean towards the road and the continuing root damage beneath the pavement. This presents a potential risk not only to pedestrians but also to vehicles and other road users should the stability of the tree deteriorate further.

Given the history of repeated pavement repairs and the fact that the underlying issue continues to worsen, I would strongly request that the council carries out a proper inspection of the tree and its root system, with a view to removing the tree rather than continuing with temporary pavement repairs.

This has been an ongoing issue for some time, and I am concerned that waiting until an accident, injury or more serious damage occurs would be avoidable. Please treat this as a safety-related report and arrange for the tree to be assessed as soon as possible.
