Wakemans Hill Avenue

Reported via desktop in the Grass verges - Overgrown category anonymously at 15:10, Thursday 2 July 2026

Sent to Brent Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9722797.

Dear Brent Council,

I am writing on behalf of myself and many other residents of Wakemans Hill Avenue to express our extreme frustration and disappointment regarding the unacceptable condition of our road.

The current state of Wakemans Hill Avenue is simply disgraceful. The pavements are broken, uneven and, in many places, hazardous to walk on. There is broken glass regularly left on the footpaths, rubbish accumulating along the road, overgrown grass and weeds, and a general lack of maintenance that gives the impression the area has been completely forgotten by the Council.

These issues are not only unsightly but also present genuine health and safety risks. Elderly residents, parents with pushchairs, wheelchair users and young children are forced to navigate damaged pavements that should have been repaired long ago. The amount of litter and broken glass is unacceptable, and the overgrown vegetation only adds to the neglect.

What makes this even more frustrating is that this is not the first time these concerns have been raised. Numerous complaints have been made over a considerable period, yet they appear to have fallen on deaf ears. The lack of response and meaningful action from Brent Council is both appalling and completely unacceptable.

As residents, we pay our Council Tax just like everyone else, and we expect to receive the same standard of services and maintenance as other parts of the borough. Instead, we have been left living in an area that is deteriorating year after year with little or no visible intervention from the Council.

We are now asking Brent Council to take immediate action to address these longstanding issues by:

Repairing and resurfacing the damaged and uneven pavements. Removing all rubbish and broken glass from the area. Cutting back the overgrown grass and vegetation. Introducing a regular maintenance and street cleaning schedule. Providing residents with a clear timescale for when these works will be carried out.

The current situation cannot continue. We expect Brent Council to treat this complaint with the seriousness it deserves and to provide a substantive response outlining what action will be taken and when.

We look forward to receiving your prompt response and, more importantly, seeing meaningful improvements made to Wakemans Hill Avenue without further delay.
