Sent to Brent Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8651115.
Cars are speeding excessively on approach and after the chicane crossing due to a lack of centre lines. Many drivers are driving in the middle of the road and this unusual driver behaviour is causing risk to patients of the nearby health centre and school children. There is a need to repaint centre lines on this road and specially before and after the chivane crossing so cars keep to one side, slowing cars down as they encounter parked cars, not doing so, will allow cars to continue driving in the middle, at fast speeds, which as I mentioned is impacting road safety. Now it’s for the council to make the call.

Under the Highways Act 1980 and the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, highway authorities have a duty to maintain road markings where their absence materially affects driver behaviour. The lack of centre line guidance on the approach to this chicane is causing vehicles to track centrally rather than keep left, undermining the traffic-calming design and creating a foreseeable collision risk

This defect was categorised as medium priority defect. To maximise the benefit to be achieved from available funding for medium priority defects we must prioritise locations of greater risk over others. Unfortunately on this occasion this defect was not prioritised for repair. However, we will continue to monitor this on our scheduled cyclic inspections and should it deteriorate further will be reassessed for possible selection for repair.
