Road Entering KwikFit

Reported via mobile in the Pothole or other road damage category anonymously at 08:31, Thu 13 June 2024

Sent to Brent Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6101992.

This section of road is a health hazard for all the people getting off the bus at the nearby stop it’s very deep and during rush hour especially people are falling over. Lots of children use this to go to the nearby school which is 4!

Updates

  • This problem has been received by our Highways Team. We plan to inspect within 30 days and provide an update.

  • This problem has now been inspected. Limited Council resources mean that it is not possible to repair each and every defect, and we have to prioritise cases that pose the most risk to the public so a further assessment by officers is required. We hope to make a decision on this repair within the next 14 days and provide a further update. If this defect is selected for repair, our contractor will have a further 28 days to carry out the work

Thank you for taking the time to report this defect and helping keep Brent a safer, more accessible place to live.

  • This is extremely dangerous as shown when this hole is dry it’s massive. But imagine when it’s raining you can barely see it, coupled with it being a high traffic route and people rushing between the bus stop and the train station it’s extremely dangerous. Its close proximity to two schools further heightens the risk of serious injury.

It has been 28 days since reported and the council stated they will inspect and update within 14 days which has elapsed. Will this work be carried out within the next 14 days in accordance with their own guidelines?

Budget cuts to road safety are not acceptable even if you think it’s a money saver and earner. You need to consider the wider impacts of poorly managed highways. They are used by motorists and pedestrians alike I’m sure the council does not want lawsuits left right and centre. This is a highly likely area for injury. So I suggest this is fixed as a matter of urgency.

  • How long does it take to fill up 1 pothole! This was reported on the 13 June and you still have not fixed it! Your own guidelines stipulate you will inspect it, make a decision etc now unless your engineers are blind and back office cant see the update which was provided on how deep the hole is you have no excuse to leave this hazard in place! The hole is large and deep! With the rain and ice now coming it is very dangerous especially considering the fact it is located between Asda, a bus stop, train station and 3 schools! This area get extremely busy during rush hour and people trying to get where they need to be its surprising no one has injured themselves! Do not hide behind its not Brent Council land it clearly is a public footpath and entry into the Kwik Fit site! This problem is being ignored because you do not want to spend the money to fix potholes! you are saving the money for roads and footpaths and reallocating it - yes we know how to read the budget spending published by the Council so dont try and treat us like fools! Get the issue resolved so we can all go on about our business! Or wait for someone to sue you for getting injured and just down the road outside Ark Academy a few hundred meters away someone smashed their face in when they tripped over your pathetic excuse of a footpath! This is not acceptable for the amount of money you are collecting in Council tax you are obliged to provide a SERVICE for the citizens of the borough! GET IT FIXED!

  • I have been reporting potholes to Brent Council for well over a year now.

I have to come to learn what they will fix & what they will not.

This is a hazard but does not meet their criteria unfortunately.

What their criteria is, is hard to say.

I guarantee they will not fix this.

    Not From The Council.

  • This is quite the joke some kid went flying today as he bulked running off the bus to go to school at this location and I was coming to report this pothole to learn it has already been reported months ago but nothing has been done!

I agree with the other member who states that Brent Council is selective in repairing issues - it seems potholes are not to much of a concern in general and paving issues they randomly fix some and not others!

  • It will take an image of bruising or blood to get this fixed.

Unfortunately it is not a nice thing I have said, but that will get the fix.

Also will need to be a brand new report. Not adding to this current one.

    Not from the council
